ps/2 mouse freezes on WinXP startup

When I bootup my PC, if I move the mouse while starting-up, the cursor moves a little erratically, then freezes, and then remains frozen. I've re-installed the driver, done a System Restore, and tried the mouse on a different PC, and it works fine, so its not the mouse. Any ideas what the problem is & how to fix?

Cheers

Remove the driver. Allow windows to use the built in drivers then look on manufacturers website for more up to date drivers.
