I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up task manager and close the problematic program down and then restart it.
Ctrl+Alt+Delete brings up Task manager.Click on program and click end task.
Sometimes even the O.S. is being silly so by Ctrl+Alt+Delete and Alt+F4, I reboot into a fresh system again.
if you have windows xp, just right click task bar and bring up task manager. a much faster way.
