Thanx for that, it still doesn't seem to tell me the speed of processor i can upgrade to though. Alot of useful info though.

Hi BigMo,
how much do you have to spend? A motherboard and processor upgrade isn't as expensive as you might think.

Your first port of call is click here and then it should be just a finding your motherboard.

However, having just tried it the result came as 'coming soon'. I wouldn't expect a oldish motherboard to be upgraded much. You may have to look a new setup.

Good luck.

Thanks for all your help everyone. I dont really want to change the mobo just want to increase the processor speed to whatever it will take.
I have found on the Packard Bell site that my mobo will take Celeron 900Mhz or PIII 1100Mhz. If this is correct why the differnce between the two. Also does anyone know of a place i might be able to get hold of these processors.

If it's slot 1 only place you may get one is Comp Fair not worth paying out for

Sorry should have mentioned its a skt 370. I have a skt 370 500Mhz celeron in at the mo.

If its a packard bell pc, why not try mailing them. I had the same question for my PB pc and it turns out I could upgrade from a celeron 400 to a 433. Needless to say I didn't bother.

the email I got back came from:
