I have bought a new pc.which is advertised as having dual Intel Pentium D processors.I have done a check on Belarc Advisor which says they are Intel Celeron. Have I got the wrong pc.or are they the same?
The Intel Pentium E2140/2160 processors are low-end Core 2 Duos that have been cut-down in terms of technical characteristics. They have an 800-MHz bus. The CPU frequency has been brought down even further, and cache has been cut in half. The reduction in cache means that the amount of L2 cache shared by both cores is only 1 megabyte. It is more than likely Belarc is out of date and recognises them as Celeron because of the low cache. If you right click on Computer and properties it will tell you what the processor is.
