Hi just brought a Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000.
Installed it ok, seems to work ok but is a bit
slow in messenger live & my proceesor is flat
out when i use the webcam, unplug it and the processor is back to normal, its a usb2 connection.
Any idears why this webacm hammers my processor?
Specs are:

2gig of ddr400 ram
250gig sata harddrive
abit KV80 mobo with via K8M800 chipset

creative 24bit external sound card.
I have all the latest drivers for mobo

You could have a look here and see if theres any software problems that might affect it click here only other suggestion is drop Logitech an email as I'm afraid I know nothing about webcams.

Video streaming is notorious for cpu usage especially if you are sending and recieving simultaneously. I take it that as it is the pro version then definition will be higher so more chip usage required. The Sempron is not the ideal chip gor graphics, The Athlon 64 bit series or Intel Dual core would have been better able to handle the vidoe streaming. Your graphics memory and DDR RAM are more than capable but you have to bring also the chip into the equation. ctrl+alt+del and check what other programs are using the CPU, close down any not required at the time, also check your virtual memory settings: Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance > Settings.
