processes

hi, i, running xp home sp2, play an oline game which has a downloader which a2 detects as spyware, but on website states can also be a commercial downloader 'win32 pskill' and if i quantine it ths game stops so i guess its safe.
the problem i have is my processes seem to differ by 2 at any time, ie its 32, then will change to 24 and i cant see why. i have no idea what the processes are, and everytime i mess something stops working, have tried regscrub xp, but have to reinstall game downloader and other things after and am back at square one, is there a program for idiots that can help me work out what my processes are?
