problems with power saver and screensaver

  ab134 04:00 06 Apr 2005

for some reason my monitor does not go into standby nor does the screensaver come on.

I recently installed a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse (don't know is this has something to do with it)

Using Windows XP with SP2

any help would be appreciated

click my computer then control panel then
power options set the standby monitor for
the time you need

have done that several times with no luck

Could possibly be the new Mouse because the movement of it makes the Monitor come out of Standby.

Did you load the driver for the new mouse, if so have you checked that it is the latest for use with SP2.

thank you for your responses. I am going to try
uninstalling my new mouse and see it that solves the problem.

removed my wireless mouse and put the regular mouse back on - screensaver back working again.

I'll just leave well enough alone
