Problems with my HDD

Hi, yesterday I've connected new HDD via USB cable to my laptop, I have formatted it and I wanted to transfer some files to it, after couple of minutes of transferring it crashes and windows give you a message saying "cannot copy file: the device is not ready" and in the lower right corner it saying "Windows - Delayed Write Failed - Windows was unable to save all the data for the file ****. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere"

The HDD Drive is Samsung 80 GB and is sitting in a Q-Tec USB case which work perfectly with my other drive.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Maybe change the USB cable to a known good quality USB High-Speed rated cable, for instance.

Also try another USB port, preferably one directly on the motherboard, and definitely not through an unpowered hub.
