problems with Microsoft baseline security analyzer

Hiya.I've downloaded the MBSA tool as a way to keep up-to-date with missing updates, patches etc.
When i click to start a scan, a message saying catalog file is damaged or invalid.Any ideas on how to instal MBSA properly or is something else wrong with Windows XP.As a newbie, i'm not sure & any help would be appreciated.Thanks.

I have had same problem for ages, just gave up in the end. I think ccleaner/or other reg cleaner may delete the catalog file
