Problems with Google beta toolbar and Firefox

My son tried to download Google's own toolbar for Firefox (ie not the one that FF supply themselves as an extension). Google's FF toolbar is still noted as a 'beta' version.

Something must have corrupted during the download or installation of the toolbar and now we can't open the Firefox browser at all. We cannot find the Google toolbar for Firefox listed in 'add/remove programs' only the version for Internet Explorer is listed in there. My son has now uninstalled Firefox as it wasn't working at all.

We are using Windows 98 SE. How can we find the FF Google toolbar on our system and remove it?

I suspect it has corrupted you profile folder. The best thing to do is to delete your profile folder then reload Firefox, it will look for the profile folder which it won't find, it will ask you to set another one up. This will tell you were to find the profile folder on your system click here
