Hello guys,
My wireless connection has been working fine for over a year and now suddenly I am having problems.
What I have found is that if I disable the encryption on router my laptop connects fine, BUT as soon as i enable any type of encryption my laptop fails to connect, it keeps saying "limited or no availability", checking in network connections it says signal strength excellent.
I have tried right click on windows wireless connection 2 slected repair but it fails on acquiring network address.
I need urgent help chaps, thanks.

Just to let you good people know what I have done so far:
1:Changed the channel from 11 to 6
2. Created a new SSID for wireless connection
3. Restarted/reset router.

I have a wireless program called Odyssey which came preinstalled on my laptop which is supposed to manage my wireless connection and this sused to show in black when it used to work and now continously shows in white (disconnected state)
anyone come across this software before.

Do you use an adapter card in an external slot, or is your laptop fitted with internal wifi?

If its the external type, try removing and refitting the card.

I take it as you are using Odyssey you have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop , do what I did , uninstall Odyssey and just use the drivers for the wireless mini pci card with Windows Wireless Zero , it will work much better for you .

Forgot to say , if you want to try this first before uninstalling , go into Network via control panel , right click on your Wireless connection and select properties , and tick the box that says " Allow Windows to manage my wireless connection " ( or similar ) Ok your way back to the desktop and double click on the single monitor icon on the task bar and click on " view wireless networks " select your own and double click on it , enter your key and see what happens .

Yes I have a fujitsu siemens laptop, I uninstalled odyssey software yesterday, rebooted the laptop, the windows zero service is running, right clicked on my wireless connection and all the relevant ticks are there behind the properties i.e allow windows to manage my network connections.

Now the strange thing is that without any encryption on my wireless network windows still tells me that it cannot connect to the router even though i can connect to the internet?

here's a post of my config settings:
