Problems connecting to the internet through my LAN

Hi everyone. I'm having problems connecting to the internet through my ethernet LAN. I bought my laptop about 3 months ago, and it connected to the internet straight away and has been fine until now. Whenever I try to connect now, the connection shows 'unknown network' and the internet will not work. The OS is Vista Home Premium. The laptop is fine on wireless, I just can't get it to work when wired anymore.

Has anyone got any suggestions? They would be much appreciated.

OK, get it working via a wireless connection then go into Network and Sharing centre and click customise (just under the internet world globe icon) - merge or delete network locations - now delete everything except the current wireless.

This is assuming you don't use it anywhere alse and have other networks configured. If you do then don't delete any of the networks that you use.

Now try the LAN again.
