Hi, Sometimes, when writing something to an existing word document, as I type it comes back on itself...Do you understand what I mean?....how can I stop it doing this as it drives me crazy?.....I am using xp home with office 2003...Thanks

No idea unless you mean that as you type, it overwrites what is already there.

If so, press the "insert" key on the keyboard when typing and you may see "ovr" go into shadow on the info bar at the bottom of the page.

In the group of six keys, to the left of the numeric keypad

I think you will find that you can also change the Insert facility by clicking on the box at the side of the Language box at the very bottom of the Word Window. It should normally show OVR greyed out. If OVR is alive it means that it is over writing.

My comment is similar to that supplied by Diodorus Siculus, except you do not need to go to the Insert key. It also means that it went to OVR probably because you clicked on the OVR box with out realising it!

TonyV - that's new to me - thanks.

It takes a double click though on my PC.

Yes, you are right, mine is double click as well! If you hold your mouse on those boxes, you will see what it is they do!

Cheers
