Problem with Windows Update

I have recently just gone online with a 1mb fixed broadband Internet connection

Whilst it all works fine generally, I have found that I have an issue with Windows Update.

As I had formatted my PC just before going online, I had to re-download all of the relevant updates for Windows from the site.

Having done this a few times this week, all seems fine as my PC has stated via Control Panel that updates are installed.

My problem comes when I try to “Review my update history” on the site.

I see that, whilst most of my updates show as being successfully installed with a
green tick next to them, most of the others show with a red cross in a red circle with
a yellow question mark next to them.

How do I go about:-

Checking to see if these updates are installed or not?

Re-installing these updates if they are needed, and how and where from?

Why are they showing with a red cross in a red circle with a yellow question mark next to them, yet the others are not?

I ran Windows Update last night again just in case to check and see if anything might have been missed, yet the site picked up no new updates that needed installing.

I have also got the same problem on my other PC that I am sharing on a LAN.

This other PC also shares the Internet connection via ICS.

I have also tried to ask Microsoft directly, yet knowing them, it will cost a bomb, so I will not go down that route at all.

Please could someone look into this for me and reply accordingly.

Thanks for your help - I look forward to a response.

Hi brundle

Thanks for your reply.

I had previously installed Belarc Advisor on both of mt PCs.

Will download it again, install it and will see what it reports.

Will post back to let you know how I get on.
