Problem with USB Flash drives

  Chris Clayton 18:36 28 Mar 2006

WXP2. I have a USB Flash Drive working OK and other USB devices connected directly and via a hub (eg.external HD, mouse, etc) but I have been unable to get other Flash drives to work. I have tried connecting two other different USB Flash Drives both via the hub and also directly to USB ports, ie. without a hub and without any other USB device connected. They are recognised by Safely Remove Hardware and are declared to be working properly BUT cannot be used because (a) one is not shown in My Computer or USB Manager and (b) the other shows up in My Computer but when clicked or when I try to format it produces the message 'insert disk into drive'. Does anyone have any idea what is going wrong and what I can do?
