Trying to upgrade a pII 333 mhz with 4.5 gig HD from Windows 98 se to Windows XP... halfway thro the install,I get a message "unmountable boot volume" and the install halts....any ideas why?
Do you get a STOP error message - if so click here
I'll check that out ...thanks VOG
In all honesty, Win XP is 'a bridge too far' for a PII 333MHz (which is the last and fastest processor to use slot 1 - hence no upgrade) Performance would be sluggish running XP to say the least. Best to stay with Win98.
Got to agree with Psiman, XP running on my machine has grown to over 2.5GB, (1.5GB on installation) that would account for more than half your hard drive !
Unfortunately I have to agree with Psiman. Also you have to take into account that this an upgrade and not a fresh installation. With only a 4.5gig hard drive. If you manage to overcome your problems, you will probably find it runs like treacle.Sorry.
you might be right guys/gals .. think i'll bash it up to ME and live with that..the fix on the link from VOG is doing my head in :-) .. muchos gracias amigo's
