Problem - two laptops on wireless connection

My flatmate has just bought an Acer Inspire One (ZG5). Whenever she connects to the wireless internet we have in our flat, it interferes with my connection (ACER Aspire 5051). It usually disconnects me a couple of times, and then either we can both be online or it wont let either of us. I then have to reset the wireless and usually only one of us can be connected. We have cable wireless with Virgin Media, and the wireless router is a D-Link Wireless G router. Any thoughts on how we can both be online at the same time?! I've not had problems with the connection before this.

Sounds like there are too many people on the same channel in the vicinity, try changing to a different channel
