Problem solving in Control Panel

  algernonymous 12:24 08 Jul 2004

I've just fdisked, formatted and installed win98 on a pc, which went fine, however after loading drivers for sound, display, etc from M/B disk and rebooting, I get the message 'Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.' When I do this, it tells me to run in safe mode to fix the problem. It suggests looking at Control Panel for it. I've looked at device manager and theres nothing obvious there, but where do you look for a problem in C.P.?

Probably did not have any luck with that either I am trying to point you to Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 14996. If you do a Google search for (Windows protection error)it will come up at the top of the search - hopefully.

I won't ask you how you did that as you will get big headed. They usually work on copy and paste but I always check. Might start a post on this problem!!!!
