Problem - Panda AV causing slow down

  Mike 23:23 18 Sep 2005

Still using Toshiba Satellite 1640CDT with Win98se
AMD K6.2 at 475Mhz 64Mb ram. Used mainly for household Mail (4 accounts) PC Advisor, Ebay, and online shopping. On all day.

Broadband 1Mb Panda Titainum Antivirus 2005 newly updated.

Problem is this update has caused the laptop to slowdown. Reading Email is a pain and Browsing just torture.

What should I do to speed things up again.

Clear out any junk - crapcleaner will be a good start.

Try a different AV program like Avast - I find it pretty good on a celeron 333mhz with 128mb RAM. Just do a custom install and choose the minimum.

Rebooting the machine during the day will also help as it frees up some RAM.

For the best, fastest, lowest system overhead, (as reported by independant test-house The Virus Bulletin) AV go to click here for NOD32.
