problem with MS Word

  palinka 16:27 01 Mar 2011

This began today - I can't get out of the view of a doc that shows a dot between words for every space and a thing like a backward facing P for the end of a sentence. I have never liked this view and have avoided using it.

The buttons, bottom left, on a word Dec that normally allow toggling between the different views don't behave as they used to do - whichever one I click I still see these dots etc; though the layout varies.

Things were normal yesterday. Last thing yesterday I installed a BT Home Hub. This morning I have this Word problem. Don't know if there's any connection. Any solution to get me back to the usual look of my Word Docs, please?

Depends a little on the version of Word.

On the toolbar, you should have a button with what looks like a backwards letter P on it. That's the hide/show spaces. Click on that.

Thanks very much, Chris the Ancient; that's done the trick. Brilliant!

The symbol is called a Pilcrow.
