Intend fitting new hard drive and scrapping old one - bought seagate ST380013AS (80GB) - found that the cabling on my ASUS A7V board is 40 pin type - have I bought the wrong type drive or is there any any adapter etc that I can fit and if so where do I purchase one? Thanks

You have a serial ata hard drive, this will not work on this motherboard. You will have to replace it Im afraid.

Thank you Rayuk for the information - I have contacted the supplier (Stuff-UK Limited) and they have been most helpful and are sending me the correct ATA 100 that I need (after I return the wrong one of course). I wrongly assumed that all Harddrives were the 40 pin type - now know they are`nt. Thanks again
