problem installing AVG7

  palinka 16:42 27 Mar 2005

I'm trying to install AVG7 on a laptop, but having saved it, when i try to open it I get the Error message: "Some installation files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and retry the installation".
I've now downloaded fresh copies several times, but always get the same error message.
I had AVG on this machine before, but had to delete it. I removed all traces of that previous installation before starting again. OS is XP, but I download to an ME machine and transfer files from there.
This is driving me nuts; advice, please.

can you not download to your xp os?

Was trying to avoid that because no antivirus installed (catch 22). But since posting I decided to try that, but whatever URL I type in I get a message "Forbidden. Access denied by access control list".
Any solutions to that, please?

thanks, VoG™. That gave me the clue to the solution. Turned out to be that the XP machine had somehow started looking for a dial-up connection. Everything now OK again.
