A friend of mine is having a problem with their DVD drive in their computer. It is a Liteon DVD Rom. This is not working, it has an error code 22 windows is unable to enable this device. When she tries to play a dvd is states their is a conflict of resources. In device manager there is a red cross through the DVD player Icon. In the properties section it states there error code 22 and unable to enable.

Check from Device Manager>highlight drive>right click>General tab>that the device is Enabled in the Device Usage drop down menu on the first tab.

Then, after checking that all leads and cables are firmly attached in connection with the drive, Uninstall the DVD drive in Device Manager and reboot (highlight the drive>right click>Properties>Uninstall).

Windows will/should Find New Hardware and reinstall the basic CDROM driver, which is all that is required for optical drives (actual use depends on software and other aspects).

If this doesn't work then the drive is faulty or the CD or DVD laser has gone kaput.
