Problem with dial up modem

I have an Intel V56 modem which up until about 2 weeks ago worked fine and when I connected I got a connection of aroound 45kbs. Now for some reason I only getting a connection of around 25kbs.

I intially thought it was the line so BT checked it - all OK, I got a laptop and used that from the same line and got a 45kbs connection, hence I am beining to think that the old modem is up the creek.

The strange thing is when I logon to my home page 'wanadoo' it is minus the piccies etc and is almost as if I have selected the text only version, however when I click on a link, the page it goes to is fine.

I have virus checked 'Norton' and all is OK.

When I dial up the modem drops out a couple of times yet it does manage to connect.

If I think about it, it all started after the last big batch of storms we had. I am very careful now and do disconnect at the slightest hint of one (fried a modem allready on that one) I am wondering if I have half fried this one.

Anyone got any suggestions.

Re-installing drivers. Setting-up connection from scratch.?
