Evening All

Anyone shed any light on this one please:

Xp sp3

Trying to convert an external hard-drive to NFTS.
"Convert" fails and suggests I run "Checkdisk"
I run "Checkdisk" with no apparent fault and re-run "Convert"
"Convert" fails again and adds:
"The volume may have inconsistencies Run checkdisk"

How do I get out of this loop?!

suggest it may be a partition issue or data stored on disc...

OK.Anything I can do about it???

Presumably in the command line you did specify NTFS correctly and not NFTS as you've posted in your thread title and message?

convert x: /fs:ntfs

Sorry finger trouble, but yes I did enter it correctly.

Anyone got a fix for this which doesn't involve reformatting the disk please?

You could try installing the free "Easeus Partition Master" click here which includes the facility for converting a FAT32 partition to NTFS.
