Article on this site.

I have installed the August Windows updates, did so on the day but, no problems have manifested themselves on either my or my partner's PCs, both on Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. Given that we both have no apparent problem, is there really any need to remove the update?

I suppose its a case of wait and see?.

Installed on my computer, and so far no signs of problems?.

I have had no problems either but I did carry out the removal process.

Step 5 revealed none of the files referred to and Step 7 only revealed the first two updates to be removed.

Hope I haven't made things worse;-)

I am not seeing any problems at all, so will leave things as they are and keep fingers crossed. Two pcs, one with Win7 and a laptop running Vista.

This seems ridiculous to me. Surely an organisation like MS should be able to address the issue with an out of cycle emergency update rather than ask users to use such arcane methods to fix the problem.

no probs either, leaving as it is

I run 3 and occasionally 4 systems and haven't had any snag with those updates.

I manually downloaded a batch of updates on Aug 16th and now do not see any of the 4 dodgy updates in my download history. Did Microsoft withdraw 'em much earlier in the month?

Answer

Clearly not having problems is not unusual so, I'll stay as I am.
