Problem with 2 XP installations showing on system

  doveys 11:27 23 Oct 2006

Folks. Can anyone out there help, please. I recently installed a new SATA HD as the boot disk. Went through the process of re-installing Windows XP, etc. All OK, or so I thought. First start up after installation and Windows stops and asks which OS to load!! On the screen is shown 2 installtions of Windows XP pro. One of the installations works fine, the other is corrupt with files missing, etc.

Does anyone know how to remove the 'other' installation, without having to re-move the partion, re-format and re-install yet again!

Actually, I think I may have found the answer already. If anyone wants to see click here;EN-US;q289022 or if anyone knows different?

Sorry, you will need to add the 'En.... ' to the end of the link.

Hmm, I still can't get that link to work. I would go:

Start>Right Click on 'My Computer'>Advanced Tab>click Settings on the Startup and Recovery section>click Edit on the right of the window>and delete the line of text that is the OS you want to remove. (make sure its the right one!).
