Printing problems: Windows Vista/HP Deskjet D4260

Hi, advice appreciated.

Have used my HP Compaq 6720s (with Windows Home Vista) Laptop, linked to HP Deskjet D4260s printer, for just over a year. Have had no problems, even with "non" HP ink. (I only use black ink, no colour)

Now however, although it prints perfectly from Windows Wordpad (e.g. a letter), its a different story if I print from a webpage, either by clicking on a "Print" link in an article or manually with Print Preview and Print.

In those cases, some of the printing is clear and bold, but an equal amount is faded grey with any photos hardly visible with multiple horizontal lines.

Any ideas??!!

More to do with the way the data is being sent from the computer.
Try a few tricks to see what happens.
For example , I asume you are printing dirvctely from nhe downloaded page.
Try saving them to a folder and then later print from the saved file.

Also you say you use only black, if this is a normal 4 colour printer then you are printing all colours.
Black is made up of all colours.
If you are using a 'black only' facility[some printer have this]
Then all the text that is coloured and the colour photos will reproduce un vaying shades of grey.

Thanks jack.

I'll try what you suggest re save to folder etc, but still wonder why its always worked OK before!!!
