been asked to help install a hp printer driver, the driver is on the xp windows cd. but the person does not have a windows cd or recovery cd/recovery partition. they have xp home installed.
if i take my xp pro cd round and put it in the pc to extact the driver would that work being a different ver of xp?

why don't you simply download the very latest driver from the HP website? It will be more up to date than the one on the XP disk.

the last time i did this for this printer hp refered me to the xp disc, there was no option to download. i might have another look save a long drive.

I have a Deskjet 720c,years old but works well. When I changed to XP there were no drivers avilable from HP. It works o.k. with the XP ones but has not got as many features as it had with HP drivers on 98.
