Printer communication

I have just set up a HP 6840 wireless/ethernet network printer. Using epson smart panel all the applications work apart from the copy feature. An error message'check printer is installed correctly'. I have uninstalled the epson smart panel/twain software and reinstalled but nothing has changed. HP will not help as they say the printer is working ok and I have not had a reply fronm epson. Anyone got any ideas?
