Print Spooler Problems in Vista SP1

. My laptop won't let me add a printer. The laptop has 2.8 GHz machine with 3 GB RAM and.

attempts to add a printer resulted in a pop up showing:
"windows can't open add printer. the local print spooler is not

If I manually restarted the Print Spooler service and click on add a printer in the Control Panel dialogue I got a different error message:
"0x000006be error"

On looking around this seems to be a common problem with with no fixes, I have checked the following with are both working correctly :
Microsoft UMBus Enumerator and the UMBus Root
Bus Enumerator which someone has suggested.

Any ideas please

when you restart the print spooler service did you try rebooting before trying to add the printer?also when in services see if print spooler service has any dependencies that need to be running for it to work

should also have said the print spooler needs to be set to automatic at start up.i'm running xp but i would think that would be the same in vista.

Hi smackheadz,
No dependencies, tried rebooting after too, and the spooler is set to automatic.
Starting to annoy me know :(
