Last month I re-installed XP on my HP Laptop with the original discs and serial # (genuine & never used on any other machine) to wipe it ready for sale. This worked fine.
Didn’t get around to putting it on e-bay for some time.
So, now it asks me register XP before it will allow me to log on.
I can’t because it’s lost all the wireless network details. And anyway this registration should be done by the buyer, not me, they don’t want my details as the registered user.

I just want to sell it, but know that the buyer will not be able to get it working because of this issue.
Any ideas please?

re-install XP again.

It is not asking for registration it is asking for activation.

This can be done on the telephone (0800) just follow the prompts.

Thanks PO79.
I've tried that.
I can't access the disc because I have to login first. I also changed to set up so it boots from the disc and not the HD - the same! No way to access the files on the disc without logging in first. There prob is a way but I don’t know it!

Hi bremner.
Yes your quite right, it is activation, not registration, my mistake.

As I said just follow the activation through and it will offer the opportunity to do so by telephone
