I have downloaded the MS powerpoint viewer 2003 from the web. To view a PPS file I have to copy it to my 'Documents' folder before I can open it. How can I get the file to open directly without having to copy it to my Docs. folder first?

You need to create an association between .pps files and PowerPoint Viewer.

Start; Run and type regedit.

Navigate to:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PowerPointViewer.SlideShow.11\shell]

There will be two sub-keys by default (namely Show and Print). Select the sub-key named Show and rename it to Open.

Quit Registry Editor.
