Powerpoint monitor screen and projector image

I have to give a talk using a projector and slides made up as a Powerpoint slide show. Is there a way of being able to see all the slides at once on the computer (laptop) monitor and then selecting the one to appear via the projector on the big screen?

I saw this done many years ago but can't remember the details of the programme. Any ideas?

You have to Extend the desktop to the projector screen.
run two versions of the presentation one on each screen.
leave all screens visable on the laptop screen and on the other show slect the slids you wish to see.

Practice first before doig the presentation

Thanks Fruit Bat. One other question - how do I extend the Desktop? I haven't come across this before.
