I am considering adding a third hard drive and a question has been raised about the adequacy of the power supply.
Putting the system parameters in a PSU calculator gives a recommended minimum of around 270W. Using a PSU + 12v loading calculator gives a 12V loading of 12.9A up to 13.4A with the third drive. I am not certain I have dealt with the fans adequately in the calculator.
I might consider upgrading only if I was adding another 7950GT graphics card for example. Some GPUs can draw a lot of power.
Btw, the HEC-550TD-PTE PSU is made by Arctic Power - see Davey's post in this thread click here. They aren't the best PSU manufacturer, but apparently that the system in question was running 2x 8800GTs on the same PSU, which is no mean feat. G
