Hi just bought a new kit for a pc everythings going fine but ive noticed a 4pin connector running off the psu, im assuming its for the psu fan but im not sure, problem is theres only a 3pin connector on the mobo.
Firstly is it for the psu fan and second do ineed some sort of adapter to go from 4pin to 3?

I presume you mean the CPU fan? If this is spinning when you switch on the power, you have no problem - otherwise you should see what you mobo manual says. What mobo do you have?

some boards have a 4 pin connector next to the PSU to power the cpu (intel)

If its booted you obviously don't need this connection ignore it.

When all else fails, read the manual!!
