Power / Sleep / Wake Up Buttons on Keyboard

  OwenLotts 08:49 01 Oct 2004

Bought a new keyboard the other day and it has 3 extra buttons my old keyboard didn't have. Only a £4 el-dirt-cheapo - no manual or drivers etc...

Power, Sleep and Wake Up.

The Power Button shuts down the PC and I've found i can change the option under Power Settings in Control Panel.

However the Sleep and Wake Up buttons do nothing. No options in Power Options and enabling Hibernate makes no difference.

What is Sleep (as opposed to Hibernate)? And is there a way to enable it or will it be down to my Motherboard / BIOS?

Windows XP SP-2

Have you checked in the Bios that Power Management is listed as User Defined?

Hibernate means that all current data and settings are saved when you go into the mode; Standby is merely as it states.

I can't seem to find that option - i'll dig out the manual later and have a look.

Fruit Bat /\0/\ - cheers but i already have the keys on the keyboard. I just wanted to know what Sleep was and how to use it.
