power on problem

PLz help.My laptop does not power on. when the AC adaptor is being plugged to the laptop, the pilot light of the adaptor blinks. but when it is unplugged from the unit, the pilot light remains steady. what seems to be the problem????

I don't really understand what you're saying. Could you please clarify?

It sounds like you are saying that if the laptop is switched on while running from the battery then it works, but if the AC adapter is plugged in when the power button is pressed, then it doesn't work?

Is the LED you refer to actually on the transformer?

My initial reaction is that either you are using the wrong transformer (it should have the laptop's manufacturer's name printed on it), or the transformer has developed a fault.

Dave, Im using the original AC adapter.( my laptop is MSI EX400X.It will not turn on even on battery or AC powered. Is the defect in the AC adapter or the motherboard of the laptop.

Remove battery and try on mains only

Also try

1. Turn off the computer,
2. Take the battery out
3. Take out the power supply
4. Push the power button down for 30 seconds.
5. Reconnect power supply
6. Then the battery.
