Power DVD

After working perfectly for two years my DVD CD Rom is giving trouble, it will not play DVD's. The message comes up "ESDI driver or ASPI manager is not compatible", sometimes also says I have not got permission to access this drive.
System is Windows ME & XP dual boot (works OK in XP).
I do not understand the above message can anyone help.
Many thanks
