Just tried another keyboard and I am still getting the same message so I suppose it's not the keyboard.Anyone got any other ideas please?

You have said it is brand new. Take it back to the supplier and get a replacement machine.

It is quite reasonable to expect a new device to do as it is supposed to. If it doesn't you are quite within your legal and moral rights to reject it.

It isn't really up to you to have the hassle of trying to make it work.
