Possible problem with Plextor PX-716A

I have just purchased a Plextor PX-716A DVD writer, which seems to work well except for one thing that I am unsure about. Whenever a disc is in the drive, regardless of whether or not it is being accessed, the green LED on the drive is always illuminated. If anyone else has this drive could you please tell me if this is correct? My NEC 2500A and older drives that I have had only illuminated the LED when the disc was first inserted or being read/written to.

Thanks

I don't have the 716a but do have a 712a...which does exactly the same thing....i think you'll find it's perfectly normal

There seems to be an anomaly here,as like helmetshine I also have the Plextor PX-1712A,which technically is similar to your 716,and my green LED is only only on when a disc is in the drive tray
