Portable Spyware Remover programs for USB drive

  CLONNEN 08:16 03 Feb 2007

Are there any portable (no-install) spyware / adware remover applications which will run off an external USB drive?

Hi, no, not to my limited knowledge.

Don't be so modest Technotiger, but I concur.

This site click here is run by a real fan of all things USB portable. If it can be put/run on a USB he has done it, I think he has web-servers running from USB drives.

Both Adaware SE click here and Doctor Alex click here can be installed to a USB where they will work quite happily. Both have installation routines that will stick entries in the Start Menu, but these can be safely deleted.

click here check out the PortableApps suite. If you already have all the portable apps you want, try the Base edition. Provides a neat start menu interface for a USB key.

click here for another option, DrWeb CureIT.

While one of my previous suggestions Doctor Alex will work, there appears to have been very little if any product development of late and there's no way to check the age of the signature files. The project looks suspiciously moribund, use with care and don't expect too much.
