I've got a new computer and Bullguard security suite is installed. Today I keep receiving an on-screen message saying someone is trying a Port Scan. Can anyone tell me what this is?

It's nothing to worry about - you have firewall and it is simply for information only.

define:Port Scan - Google Search
"A port scanner is a piece of software designed to search a network host for open ports. This is often used by administrators to check the security of their networks and by hackers to compromise it.

Diodorus, thanks pal.

Your ports are beimg scanned all the time by servers to see that you are online, this is called handshaking and is nothing to worry about.

The chances of it being a hacker are the same as me living on the sun.
