PNF files produced by IE7

Since the download of IE7 this week I now have over 1010 blue marked *.PNF files. Plus other blue marked files. Can I delete them. The space taken is enormous!

How did you discover these files may I ask? Are they causing any problems? Until I saw your post I hadn't heard of that file extension before.

I've around 960 .pnf files, most of which are in the C:/Windows/inf folder with a combined size of about 34Mb (which isn't 'enormous' as I have 2x 80Gb hard drives).

If you're running out of space backup them up to removable media just in case. Otherwise, leave them alone. G

Many thanks Vog, but I still don't know if it is safe to delete them.
OK, crossbow7, 34Mb of space taken up on my 160Gb hard disc is still too much for me! I still remember my 1st hard disc of 10Mb!
I found them doing a 'Spybot' search!

Make a note of the folders where they are situated then, instead of deleting, back them up to removable CD/DVD (write to a rw disk or burn a multisession disk so you can add to it & not waste the remaining space) & reboot.

I cannot guarantee that there'll be no problems though, so do a backup of all your data files, emails, etc., too just in case. To save a few Mb it all sounds a bit drastic to be honest.
