So maybe sell for £300+ ?

Yes if your lucky, remember it is second hand and you will be selling without a guarantee.

Second hand PCs are always worth a lot less than you think.

Saw my machine I paid £800 for 5 years ago selling at £35 at a Computer fair :0)

You could check out eBay or a similar website, so as to see if a similar computer is in the bidding, and work from that?.

Second-hand computer prices can be a nightmare at times, especially when 'special' offers on new can be more of an advantage to some buyers!.

You will get more if you break it down to its component parts. Selling it as is will probably realised a lot less than £300.

I've bought most of my PCs off eBay. If I saw yours on there, and if it came with the Windows disk, I'd probably bid up to about £150 for it. Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear...

Thanks for the help everyone.

The PC is in great condition so i think i'll just keep the desktop and raise money for my laptop another way.

Richardreds: it's that kind of thinking that means I have something like 6 PCs in the loft. In terms of value, I just can't bear to let them go for what they'd fetch - so I keep them...

Always best to have one in reserve. I have at least six, and a mass of components ;o)

Perhaps I should have mentioned that if you are seriously seeking a laptop, then places like Argos and possibly still John Lewis provide interest free finance, if you obtain one of their store cards.
