Hey guys,

My CD/DVD drive is showing a message saying, "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".

And now the CD/DVD drive hasn't appeared in My Computer since I changed from Windows Vista to Windows 7.

I've found different methods to fix this, but they are all for Windows Vista.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, Mike

These of any help click here or click here? Regarding the 2nd link, a Vista/Win7 PC will have very similar registries & is worth a try. Set a restore point before making an changes there.

Found via a search at Microsoft click here. G

Thanks, but I've tried those methods already, and still no luck. Windows 7 seems to be different when I search for that specific folder.

"Windows 7 seems to be different when I search for that specific folder."

Which folder is this please?

Have you tried the registry fix in the 2nd link? The same entry is present in Win7. However, if LowerFilters is not present, you just need to delete UpperFilters & reboot. See Jackie Murphy's 2nd post in that link. G
