playing videos in real time

why when i try to play videos on the net they keep stopping and starting

Video needs a reasonable broadband connection.
If you are a few miles from the telephone exchange
or if there are bad connections (eg in the exchange or your street's green box)or motorbike ignitions going past disrupt your signal...the video will be corrupted and the player will pause to do some error correction and fill up its buffer.

Dont forget that telephone lines were never designed to carry video.

Put up with it or spend a lot of money on a high speed link. Sorry.
