Playing videos in IE8

  lucky1 22:11 17 Sep 2010

Until this evening I've had no problems watching news videos etc in IE8. Now, for some reason, they are taking ages to download and, when I play them they freeze, start for a few seconds, then freeze again. Am running Windows XP SP3 on an Acer laptop. I have done nothing to the machine which, as I say, was working okay this afternoon.
Thanks in advance.

Further to above, have reset IE8, but the same problem arises

what internet speed?

  lucky1 22:32 17 Sep 2010

54mbps at the moment

"54mbps" no not that one, that's just your WiFi laptop to router connection.
What speed is your router connecting to your ISP? (your bandwidth line connection)
You will have to look at your router's home page to get your line stats

Sorry lotvic. My wife has taken ill. Hopefully I'll look back in tomorrow.

Hope she is okay and recovers quickly.

lotvic and johnnyrocker. Apologies for the interruption. Wife a bit better thanks.

Sorry, should have said, the problem still exists!

Check download speed with Speedtest; click here
You can post results here using the site's copy and paste feature.
If poor (as stated above) then reboot your router. Switch it off for a couple of minutes and switch on again and let it stablise. See if your speed is any better.
