playing u.s. dvds in u.k.

Ive just bought a dvd from the USA and have found that to play it will mean changing my settings irreversibly on realplayer.
Is there any other free software that I could play just my US dvds on without affecting the playing of UK dvds as well?

Not too sure about free software, but you could try disabling the region check on your DVD player, however be warned that to do this normally means upgrading the drives firmware, which could ireversably damage your drive if it goes wrong. Anyway check out these sites for more info:

Any DVD player can be changed to multi-region support, I would suggest that you google the make and ID number of the player to find the sites. If you need further help post here with the make and model of your DVD player.
