Playing mp3 files in linux Edubuntu

As like lots of people i have a massive collection of music.

Now that i have gone onto linux, for some reason my .mp3 files are not playing i just get errors.

Does anyone know why Could linux only have a format like .ogg

Rythmnbox, the audio player, appears to have a few issues with some distros with mp3 files.

Try a different audio player - there's loads around see here for some click here

Xine is very popular click here - the Kaffeine or Totem packages can be used, depending on whether you use the Gnome or KDE desktop.

It's not Linux that dictates what media can be played, it's the media player. Just like in Windows, it's the Windows Media Player that dictates what can be used.
